UPS to offer express package services in China

UPS to offer express package services in China UPS said it will offer express package services across China by September, initially linking 23 major metropolitan areas in the Chinese mainland with next-day service.
   The company said it plans to expand its domestic China express service beyond the initial 23 locations in the future.
   In December 2004, UPS acquired part of Sinotrans’ express service network in China for $100 million.
   “We intend to have the most extensive package delivery and logistics offering to, from and within China,” said David Abney, president, UPS international operations. “This move recognizes the longer term potential of a rapidly growing consumer marketplace in China.”
   UPS offers 18 weekly jet flights to and from China and said it is adding three daily flights from next year.
