CLARKE OF CANADA BUYS FOUR U.S. FREIGHT FIRMS    Clarke Inc., a Toronto-based provider of transportation and logistics services in North America, has purchased four U.S.-based freight management companies.
   The new acquisitions are Focus Carriers, based in Memphis, Tenn.; Kenley Trucking, Inc., of Atlanta; Creative Logistics, of Ripon, Calif.; and Brandywine Consolidators, based in Philadelphia.
   The acquired companies will double the size of Clarke’s freight management division. The deal to acquire Brandywine Consolidators will close in February; the other three purchases have been concluded.
   Terms of the deals were not disclosed. Darell Hornby, president and chief operating officer of Clarke, said that the four companies “will enhance the purchasing power of our logistics group.”
