Canadian trucker turns to natural gas

   Winnipeg-based Bison Transport has begun running trucks fueled by liquid natural gas out of Calgary, according to the Canadian Trucking Alliance.
   Shell Canada, a partner in the project, has opened fueling stations in Calgary, Red Deer and Edmonton.
   According to the alliance, Bison officials expect to spend 30 percent less money on fuel while seeing a 20 percent percent decline in emissions.
   Bison signed a five-year fuel supply agreement with Shell in November to run 15 LNG tractors out of Alberta. At the time, Bison representatives touted the contract as the first of its kind in Canada. 
   “LNG can be a cost-effective fuel from an abundant resource of natural gas and we believe it can help our customers build competitive advantage,” Shell Canada’s Lorraine Mitchelmore said at the time. “The opportunity to work with one of Canada’s leading fleets marks an exciting milestone for Shell.” – Jon Ross
