Schenker finalizes majority buy of U.K. motor carrier

The Deutsche Bahn subsidiary has invested in a 75 percent stake in Redhead Holdings to boost its road delivery capability in the United Kingdom.    German logistics giant Schenker AG has finalized the acquisition of three-fourths of Redhead Holdings Ltd., a motor carrier in the United Kingdom, following approvals by regulators.
   The merger fills in gaps within Schenker’s road network and allows the company to participate in Palletforce, a national network of more than 100 strategically located terminals. Under terms of the deal, Schenker is to acquire the remaining 25 percent of Redhead within four years.
   Schenker is a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn, the German railroad operator.
   DB Schenker said it will merge the two companies in a reverse integration, and the remaining business will continue to operate as Redhead International under existing management. The combined organization will sport a fleet of over 300 vehicles operating from five regional depots across the U.K.
