Hoyer expands in Russia, Ukraine

   Hamburg, Germany-based bulk logistics services provider Hoyer has expanded its operations in Russia and Ukraine.
   The company has opened offices in Moscow and Odessa. In addition, Axel Brewe has been named head of development in Russia and central Eastern Europe.
   Brewe will continue to build and expand the existing tank container network, including investments in company vehicles and local infrastructure, Hoyer said.
   The Moscow office, initially with a staff of seven, will be headed by Vadim Khalme. Before joining HOYER, Khalme served as logistics manager for an international oil company.
   Hoyer picked Aleksey Koval, who previously worked as a charter broker and in logistics for a major shipping company, to operate the Odessa office.
   Hoyer said it’s seen “above-average growth in Eastern Europe.” The company has had its own branch office in Klaipeda, Lithuania since 2002. In 2010, it began activities in Kaliningrad. Its current portfolio of Eastern European services mainly comprises intermodal transport, domestic trucking and the operation of depots offering a range of logistics services.
