The rate increases, which go into effect Saturday, vary depending on the time of cargo being moved. Containerized cargo will see a 10 percent rise, while cars shipment rates will rise about 9 percent, reports said.
The carrier said its volume fell 10 percent in 2008 and it is expecting a further 11 percent decline in 2009.
