Air Cargo Germany suspends operations

   Air Cargo Germany has temporarily suspended its operations as of Thursday, giving no sign as to the ultimate cause of the interruption or when services may be reinstated.
   According to a letter sent to customers by the carrier’s chief executive officer, Michael Schaecher, the shutdown was sudden. He did point out, however, that shareholders are still supporting the company “in any way possible” and employees are working doggedly to find a solution to the issue.
   “The suddenness of this interruption is beyond our control and was neither expected nor foreseen in any way,” he wrote. “Despite the surprise of this measure, we remain very confident that the operations can be resumed in the next few days.”
   Schaecher, formerly head of DHL Global Forwarding, took the CEO job at Air Cargo Germany in February, replacing Michael Bock. The company, which started in 2008, flies Boeing 747-400 freighters. The carrier’s only U.S. destination in Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. – Jon Ross
