European forwarder association sets up security committee    FastForward Europe, a Brussels-based association that represents major European and American forwarders, has set up a security committee.
   The committee will represent the common security interests of the forwarding and logistics industry and liaise with inter-government regulatory bodies and trade groups.
   FastForward Europe said that the security committee will also “adopt and develop security standards at international level for the industry, in line with other standards.”
   Robert Larson, head of security at DHL Danzas Air & Ocean, was appointed chairman of the security committee, while Bill Rice, an executive of Exel, was named vice chairman.
   Members of FastForward Europe’s security committee will meet officials of the U.S. Bureau of Customs and Border Protection on Oct. 14 to discuss the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism initiative, the Container Security Initiative and the U.S. air cargo Automated Manifest System proposal.
   “Due to the global perspective that security issues have taken in the past two years, FastForward Europe recognized the need to establish a group of global security experts,” said Klaus Herms, chairman of the association and head of Kuehne & Nagel.
   FastForward Europe members are ABX Logistics, Dachser, Danzas, Exel, GeoLogistics, Kuehne & Nagel, Panalpina, Schenker and UTi.
