BG Freight to commence Cork-Liverpool loop

The weekly service is scheduled to launch March 27.    BG Freight Line, a subsidiary of Peel Ports Group, will begin a new weekly container service on March 27 between Cork and Liverpool, Peel Ports said.
   The service will provide a quay-to-quay route for tank operators and door-to-door opportunities for the North of England, Midlands and Scotland.
   Operating with two, 340-TEU vessels – the Thea II and the RMS Veritas – the weekly service will have a rotation, calling Liverpool on Saturday, Cork on Monday, and back to Liverpool on Wednesday.
   “At the end of the each week, the vessel will continue to offer services between Belfast, Greenock and Liverpool,” Peel Ports said.
   Next year, BG Freight will receive four short-sea feeder vessels optimized for the company’s Irish Sea hub services. The vessels will be built to DNV GL standards, and have a modern wet scrubber system for exhaust cleaning in order to comply with Emission Control Area (ECA) requirements. They will be fully fitted to load 488 container units with a 45-foot length.
