SAS expanding cargo terminal

SAS expanding cargo terminal SAS Scandinavian Airlines said it would be able to offer better service to more customers with the expansion of an air cargo terminal in Gothenburg, Sweden.
   The 5,000-square-meter expansion of the current air cargo terminal at Landvetter airport will allow the company to offer “higher levels of efficiency, quality and security,” SAS said. It is due to be completed at the end of 2008.
   SAS said the expansion is the result of an agreement between SAS Cargo’s handling company, Spirit Air Cargo Handling, and Nordic Airport Properties.
   Anders Skantz, managing director for Spirit Air Cargo Handling, said the SwedeGothenburg airport is located in the middle of Scandinavia in a highly industrialized region close to Oslo, Stockholm and Copenhagen.
   He said lack of capacity at the current facility has forced the company to reject customers, and expansion will allow more air cargo operators to choose Landvetter as destination in the future.
