Commerce cites antidumping rate on Canadian softwood lumber    The U.S. Commerce Department cited an 8.38 percent antidumping rate on Canadian softwood lumber.
   Commerce also affirmed its original finding that Canadian softwood lumber shippers engage in widespread dumping on the U.S. market.
   “The practice of dumping is encouraged by provincial policies that require Canadian companies to continue harvesting trees and producing lumber irrespective of market conditions,” said Rusty Wood, chairman of the Coalition for Fair Lumber Imports, a Washington-based lobby which supports Commerce’s finding.
   The coalition wants Canada to “halt its unfair trading practices and seek open and competitive timber and lumber markets through a negotiated settlement,” Wood said.
