Maersk slows FM3 again, adds Shanghai

   After only one month back at full-speed, ocean carrier Maersk Line has again slowed its FM3 service between Asia and the Indian Subcontinent and added a call at Shanghai.
   American Shipper reported Feb 28 that the FM3 had resumed a six-week roundtrip voyage time after having slowed to seven weeks (reported by American Shipper Jan 19) for a month, with transit times eastbound to Asia from the Indian Subcontinent decreasing by about seven days. Now eastbound transit times have increased once again as seven vessels slow-steam one extra week between Colombo, Sri Lanka and Xingang.
   Maersk has also added a new call at Shanghai to the FM3, leaving a revised rotation of Pipavav, Nhava Sheva, Karachi, Colombo, Port Kelang, Singapore, Xingang, Gwangyang, Busan, Shanghai, Ningbo, Nansha, Tanjung Pelepas, Colombo, and Pipavav.
   The service is operated with five Maersk vessels and two from partner CMA CGM with an average capacity of 6,237 TEUs. Maersk subsidiary Safmarine continues to take slots on the FM3. — ComPair Data, Ben Meyer
