Airbus A380 to premier at JFK The highly anticipated Airbus A380 will make its debut at JFK International Airport on March 19. The demonstration will be a joint operation between Airbus and Lufthansa.
   The flight will begin in Frankfurt, Germany on March 19 and will land the same day at JFK. On March 20, the plane will commute between JFK and Chicago's O'Hare Airport.
   The flight will be the first time that the A380 will demonstrate its “operational maturity under realistic conditions,” reported the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. The passengers will comprise media and employees of the two companies involved.
   The manufacturing for the A380 had been delayed two years because the amount of work and training needed for the installation of the electrical harnesses in to the forward and rear section of the fuselage was underestimated.
   Lufthansa now expect the first of the A380's to arrive in the summer of 2009.
   “We will use the time until the first delivery to further optimize the processes on board and on ground for operating the aircraft,” said Martin Reicken, head of corporate communications in the Americas for Lufthansa.
