Tropical Shipping alters Canadian service

The shipping company said it will drop a call at the Port of Saint John in New Brunswick in favor of a call at the Port of Halifax in Nova Scotia on a loop connecting Canada to Florida and the Caribbean.    Tropical Shipping will be making port changes to its Canadian service early next year, the carrier said.
   Effective Jan. 9, 2017, Tropical will move its port operations from the Port of Saint John in New Brunswick to the Halterm Container Terminal at the Port of Halifax.
   The last sailing from the Port of Saint John will occur Dec. 27, 2016.
   The service will continue to operate on a weekly basis, departing each Monday from Halifax to Florida and the Caribbean.
   According to ocean carrier schedule and capacity database BlueWater Reporting, Tropical’s Canadian Service currently sails from Saint John to Palm Beach, Fla.; San Juan, Puerto Rico; St.Thomas and St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands; St. Maarten-Philipsburg in the Netherlands Antilles; Road Town, Tortola and Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands; Caucedo, Dominican Republic; and back to Saint John. The loop has a fifteen-day rotation time.
   Two vessels with an average capacity of 755 TEUs sail on the service to ensure a weekly frequency.
