The project, subject to final planning approval, could include two stages of development, with each phase involving a surface area of 70,000 square meters and a capacity of 130,000 cubic meters. The French port authority said the 60-million-euro ($75.4 million) first stage would generate maritime traffic of 15,000-20,000 containers per year by 2008.
IKEA said the timing of the second phase would depend on the pace of growth in southern France, Spain and Portugal.
