Ex-Vancouver USA port executive interim Camas-Washougal port chief The former executive director of the Port of Vancouver, Wash., has been named interim chief of the Port of Camas-Washougal on the Washington-Oregon border.
   Byron Hanke's appointment Wednesday follows the sudden and unexplained resignation of 22-year Camas-Washougal Executive Director Sheldon Tyler early this week.
   Hanke, who has served as a paid Camas-Washougal consultant for more than a year, will oversee port operations while leading the search for a new executive director. He will retain his title of consultant during what is expected to a three- to four-month search for Tyler's permanent replacement.
   The port's three-member governing board hired Hanke just over a year ago to advise on port planning and development of several large projects, including a proposed $350 million waterfront development RiverWalk on the Columbia River.
   Camas-Washougal port, located near the Washington state port of Vancouver on the Columbia River, includes an airport as well as commercial maritime and recreational facilities.
