Conforama selects Kuehne + Nagel

Conforama selects Kuehne + Nagel Conforama, part of French multinational holding company PPR, one of the largest retailers worldwide, specializing in furnishing and home appliances, has entered into a strategic partnership with Kuehne + Nagel to help implement its new logistics strategy.
   Under terms of the partnership, Swiss logistics giant Kuehne + Nagel is operating a new 65,000-square-meter distribution center in Ch'tres, southeast of Paris, that it designed for Conforama. Kuehne + Nagel’s team of 150 staff in Ch'tres is entrusted with all warehousing and order management operations to service Conforama stores in France. The facility can receive and manage up to 150 full truckloads and containers per day. A total of 5 million cases will be handled in 2007, Kuehne + Nagel said.
   In addition to the warehousing operations undertaken in Ch'tres, Kuehne + Nagel acts as a preferred partner for Conforama, responsible for container consolidation in Asia and transportation by barge from Antwerp and Le Havre to the retailer’s warehouses in France and Switzerland.
   Kuehne + Nagel has also been assigned a pilot role for the implementation of new processes and systems before they are extended to all Conforama logistics centers in France and across Europe.
