COSCO Pacific’s throughput up 26% in 2006

COSCO PacificÆs throughput up 26% in 2006 Chinese container terminal operator COSCO Pacific Ltd. reported a 25.7 percent throughput increase at its worldwide facilities in 2006.
   The total throughput at COSCO Pacific's terminals in China, Singapore and Belgium rose to 32.8 million TEUs in 2006, up from 26.1 million TEUs in 2005.
   The combined throughput of COSCO Pacific's terminals on the Bohai Rim of northern China — Qingdao, Dalian, Tianjin and Yingkou — increased 43.3 percent to 13.4 million TEUs in 2006 from 9.4 million TEUs in 2005.
   The group's Pearl River Delta terminals — Hong Kong, Quanzhou and Yantian — saw a growth of 13.1 percent, totaling 10.4 million TEUs last year, from 9.2 million TEUs in 2005.
   The box volume at COSCO Pacific's Yangtze River Delta terminals — Shanghai, Zhangjiagang, Yangzhou and Nanjing — was 7.7 million TEUs in 2006, up 13.2 percent compared to 6.8 million TEUs in 2005.
   Outside China, COSCO Pacific's joint venture terminal in Singapore with PSA International, COSCO-PSA Terminal, increased its volume 2.8 percent to 627,900 TEUs, while the Antwerp Gateway terminal's volume soared from 70,100 TEUs in 2005 to 599,200 TEUs in 2006.
