USTR seeks labor comments on U.S.-Colombia FTA

USTR seeks labor comments on U.S.-Colombia FTA    The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, through the interagency Trade Policy Staff Committee, is asking the public for comments about Colombia's labor-related issues in the context of the U.S.'Colombia free trade agreement.
   Specifically, the agency wants to know:
   ' Are there gaps in Colombia's labor law regime?
   ' Is the Columbian government taking adequate steps to protect the country's workers from intimidation or violence that impede the exercise of fundamental labor rights?
   ' Has the Colombian government made progress to prosecute perpetrators of violence and intimidation against unionists?
   ' The United States signed the FTA with Colombia on Nov. 22, 2006, and the countries amended it on June 28, 2007. The FTA is still pending.
