HAMBURG SUD MERGES SOUTH SEAS INTO COLUMBUS LINE    Columbus Line USA Inc, based in Morristown, N.J., has announced that Hamburg Sud will begin operating its South Seas Steamship Line under the Columbus Line brand name, effective Jan. 1.
   “Columbus Line is already well known in Tahiti, where our Australia/New Zealand service makes northbound calls,” said Juergen Pump, senior vice president of Columbus Line. “South Seas has set new standards for service quality and schedule reliability to the Islands. We want to assure our clients that this trade will continue to be managed from San Francisco by our South Seas team, headed by Michelle Barragan.”
   The move brings all of Hamburg Sud’s South Pacific operations under the banner of Columbus Line.
