CP Railway to cut 10 low-volume branch lines

CP Railway to cut 10 low-volume branch lines    Canadian Pacific Railway said it will include 10 low-volume branch lines in its three-year plan of network reduction.
Line discontinuance will take place under rules established in the Canada Transportation Act. This means that prior to termination of the lines, CP Railway must offer such lines to third parties for continued rail operation.
“Rail traffic has all but disappeared from these lines, which makes them no longer viable for Canadian Pacific Railway to continue operating,” the railroad said.
The branch lines concerned are: La Riviere subdivision, between Morden and La Riviere; Napinka subdivision, between La Riviere and Killarney; Radville subdivision, between Weyburn and Bengough; Outlook subdivision, between Loreburn and Broderick; Kerrobert subdivision, between Conquest and Herschel; Bulyea subdivision, between Neudorf and Cupar; Bromhead subdivision, between Estevan and Tribune; Irricana subdivision, between Bassano and Standard; Cardston subdivision, between Stirling and Raymond; and Stirling subdivision, between Foremost and Stirling.
Unless new rail operators are found for these branch lines, Canadian Pacific Railway intends to discontinue operations.
