Revenues up for C.H. Robinson

   C.H. Robinson saw its total revenues increase by 15.1 percent in the third quarter, jumping from $2.88 billion in the 2012 period to $3.32 billion. For the first nine months of the year, revenues are up by 14.4 percent.
   The company’s ocean and customs segments showed the biggest net revenue growth during the quarter, rising 168.6 percent and 117.4 percent, respectively, year over year. Revenue generated by air operations jumped by 100.5 percent to $18.14 million. LTL rose 4.4 percent to $61.44 million, and intermodal was up 1.3 percent to $10.2 million. Truckload finished down 1.3 percent to $265.51 million.    
   The significant growth in the ocean, customs and air segments “were primarily due to our acquisition of Phoenix in November 2012,” according to the company. A 5-percent increase in total shipments helped support LTL growth, and intermodal growth came at the hands of increased net revenue margin. The truckload sector a decrease in net revenue due to rises in costs per mile, but the segment did experience a 13-percent increase in volumes over the same quarter in 2012.
