CN applies for regulatory approval of Milton Logistics Hub

   Announced back in March, the new facility would be built adjacent to CN’s main line in Milton, west of Toronto, and will complement Brampton Intermodal Terminal, the railway’s existing Toronto-area intermodal terminal.
   CN expects the new intermodal hub to create more than 1,000 direct and indirect jobs in the Milton and Halton regions of Ontario.
   CN said in a statement the CTA application outlines the infrastructure required for the project as well as the expected economic benefits. CN estimates the logistics hub will cost a total of $250 million Canadian (U.S. $176.89).
   “With CN’s intermodal traffic growing solidly since 2005, the terminal creates more inland freight capacity to better connect domestic and global supply chains linking the West and East coasts in Canada,” the railway said.
   Also included in the CTA application are letters of support for the project signed by leaders of chambers of commerce, ports, businesses across Canada, and the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nations. The CTA application and additional details can be viewed on CN’s Milton project website.
