N.Y.-N.J. port plans to lease property for cement terminal A new cement terminal planned for Staten Island could help reduce the number of trucks carrying cement to the New York-New Jersey region from Lehigh Valley, Pa.
   Thursday, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey board approved plans to lease property to Staten Island Terminal conjunction with a proposed cement import terminal.
   The terminal would receive ships carrying cement from Peru produced by the Cementos Lima Co.
   The company plans to construct a deepwater ship pier in a body of water called the Kill Van Kull, west of the Bayonne Bridge. The land would be used to construct a trestle conveyor system that would connect the upland portion of the terminal to the pier.
