UPS improves its freight tracking technology    UPS said Tuesday it has significantly improved its UPS Trade DirectSM service, which combines the cross-border movement of freight and packages to cut the demand for warehousing.
   UPS said that by using a common computer application to prepare and process shipments of all types, shippers will be able to track freight, including less-than-truckload shipments, just like small packages.
   “Trade Direct speeds transit times for our customers even as supply chains get longer and more complex, and cuts the expense of warehousing,” said Kurt Kuehn, UPS’s senior vice president or worldwide sales and marketing. “With these latest enhancements, we’re simplifying the information management challenges that can arise with increased global trade.”
