Inbound container traffic rose 25 percent year-on-year to 288,590 TEUs in October. Outbound box volume edged up 1 percent to 85,824 TEUs.
The result of the widening imbalance between inbound and outbound box flows was a 51-percent rise in the number of empty containers to 183,251 TEUs for October.
The port of Los Angeles, which has recently experienced a decline in traffic, has not reported its October statistics, yet.
