Delta to offer New York/Cape Town flights Delta Air Lines said it plans to add a new direct service between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and Cape Town, South Africa.
   The company said it has applied to the U.S. Department of Transportation for authority to add the only direct service operated by a U.S. carrier to Cape Town.
   The application is part of a rejiggering of its schedule that would take effect by next summer. Delta said it aims to accommodate growing customer demand at JFK while taking steps to reduce airport congestion and delays.
   Delta plans to offer increased choice on 14 new international routes and will offer customers improved on-time reliability by reducing the number of Delta flights operating during peak hours when traffic is most congested.
