DHL ramps up green growth

   Deutsche Post DHL said more than 60 percent of its electricity is now generated from renewable resources, up from 42 percent in 2012 and 37 percent in 2010.
   The company said it has mitigated the output of more than 450,000 tons of CO2 over the past year. It has been focusing mostly on green power in Europe and North America, simply because of availability, but said it would turn its focus to the Asia-Pacific region.
   “Environmental sustainability is an integral part of our company strategy. Our efforts and the progress we make toward becoming an environmentally friendly company are on the one hand, a sign of respect for the world we live in, and on the other hand, this also supports our customers’ needs,” Christof Ehrhart, DHL’s executive vice president, corporate communications and responsibility, said in a statement.
