SM Line continues to grow fleet with two more boxships

The six-month old shipping line has added two more containerships to its still-growing fleet, with a goal to own 30 by the end of the year.    South Korean ocean carrier SM Line has added two more boxships to its still-growing fleet, according to a report from maritime news outlet Splash 24/7.
   The two panamax container vessels, the SCT Oman and the SCT Qatar, can transport up to 4,860 TEUs and will cost the shipping line roughly $10 million apiece.
   SM Line first launched in January in the wake of the collapse of South Korea’s Hanjin Shipping, and has since built up its fleet with a goal to own 30 container vessels by the end of 2017.
   With its focus primarily on transpacific and intra-Asia routes, SM Lines currently operates five services and purchases slots on two other loops, according to ocean carrier schedule and capacity database BlueWater Reporting.
