Brittin to head TSA air cargo security

Brittin to head TSA air cargo security    Doug Brittin, manager of air cargo programs at the Transportation Security Administration, said Monday he has been named to replace Ed Kelly as general manager of air cargo.
   Kelly unexpectedly died last December after developing a potent strain of pneumonia. He was instrumental in beefing up the TSA’s expertise about air cargo and developing the Certified Cargo Screening Program to make the upcoming 100-percent screening requirement easier on shippers and airlines.

   The TSA has not formally announced Brittin’s promotion, but he confirmed the move in response to a question from the audience at the Cargo Network Services conference in Miami. He is in charge of the indirect air carrier security program, air cargo screening technology deployment, and policy.
   Brittin joined the TSA three years ago after working for 30 years in the freight transportation arena, where he held sales and operations positions for companies such as BAX Global, Panalpina, Emery and Menlo Worldwide.
