MTC International buys stake in Chilean logistics company

MTC International buys stake in Chilean logistics company San Francisco, Calif.-based MTC International, a division of MTC Holdings, has acquired a 'relevant stake' in Chilean logistics firm Transtainer S.A., and its subsidiary, Seaport S.A. Financial details were not disclosed.
   Based in the Port of San Antonio, Transtainer operates a fleet of trucks specialized in container transportation and a fleet of reach stackers, forklifts and side lifters. Seaport specializes in providing cargo logistics for agricultural, forest and industrial export companies and retail, industrial and automobile import products.
   'We've been focusing on the West Coast of South America for quite some time, and are pleased to become established in this important region,” said Doug Tilden, Marine Terminals Corp. president and chief executive officer.
   Marine Terminals Corp. is a contract stevedore and terminal operating company that provides services for all types of commodities, including more than six million TEUs annually through its 26 U.S. West Coast and six East Coast locations. MTC provides global services through MTC International and MTC de Mexico. MTC also has joint ventures with major ocean carriers and affiliates in equipment and IT software.
