The collision occurred May 3 at 11:08 Chinese Standard Time while the 3,613-TEU “Katsuragi” was stationary off the coast of the Port of Qingdao in China.
The “Guo Feng” sunk soon after the collision and so far the Chinese Maritime Bureau, aided by the crew of the “Katsuragi,” have rescued 10 of the 16 crew.
There were no injuries on board the “Katsuragi,” or serious damage to the vessel.
