LAN also ordered 26 of Boeing’s new 787 long-range aircraft and will lease six 787-9s. Sticker price for the two freighters is $500 million and $4.5 billion for the 26 787s, although aircraft riveters often offer discounts for multiplane deals.
The 777s will augment LAN’s existing cargo fleet, which consists of nine 767-300s and one 737-200. The airline also carries cargo below deck in passenger planes.
