IKEA vet DeMarino joins Encompass

IKEA vet DeMarino joins Encompass Encompass Global Logistics, a fourth-month-old start-up based in Los Angeles, said Thomas DeMarino has joined the company as vice president business development and compliance.

   DeMarino was manager of ocean and air procurement for furniture retailer IKEA. He also founded the strategic purchase management team IKEA Global and was responsible for all of IKEA’s customs compliance programs in North America. Prior to IKEA, he held management and sales positions with ocean carrier Hapag-Lloyd.
   DeMarino, who worked 17 years at IKEA, will be based in Philadelphia.
   His background as a shipper and carrier should help Encompass in dealing with customers and transportation companies with which it books shipments.
   Privately held Encompass is a full-service international freight forwarder.
