Trincon starts activity-based cost tool

   Trincon Group, a U.S. transportation industry advisory firm, has created a new Website and program called TruCosting that can use activity-based costing methodology and business intelligence to help carriers manage their costs, profits, and increase truck productivity.
   The TruCosting analysis service is made to establish the profitability of a trucking company’s price for future and existing business. Built on the company’s existing business intelligence technology, Tru-Intelligence, it compares actual trip results against benchmark models to determine a true profitability and cost rating. This rating can be applied at the truck, lane of traffic, customer, or business segment level.
   The service includes items like fuel surcharge requirements, a customizable pricing model, and can determine if a shipper’s fuel surcharges are compensatory.
   The service, rolled out here, is designed specifically to address costing model needs and requirements for the industry, but can be customized to a specific trucking company for internal deployment.
