Engler jumps from NAM to Business Roundtable

Engler jumps from NAM to Business Roundtable    John Engler has left the National Association of Manufacturers as president and CEO to take a similar role at the Business Roundtable, an association of chief executive officers for leading companies.
   NAM, in turn, promoted Executive Vice President Jay Timmons to succeed Engler in January.
   Engler, a former three-term governor of Michigan, has helmed NAM since October 2004. He is credited with growing the nation's largest manufacturing association and boosting dues revenue by 28 percent.
   NAM and the Business Roundtable work together on many economic policy issues, including expanding U.S. trade opportunities. Engler said he will continue to advocate policies that increase jobs and exports, enhance educational opportunities and worker training, and reduce 'excessive' taxes and regulation.
   Engler succeeds John Castellani, who became head of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America in September.
   Timmons currently oversees all policy development, communications, government relations and advocacy efforts. His previous experience includes work as a staff member on Capitol Hill and in the Virginia governor's office.
