Cargo units of American, BA to lower fuel surcharges

Cargo units of American, BA to lower fuel surcharges    British Airways World Cargo and American Airlines Cargo have followed the lead of Cargolux and NWA Cargo by announcing reductions to their fuel surcharges.
   AA Cargo will lower its fuel surcharge, from 60 cents per kilogram to 50 cents per kilogram for most U.S.-origin international shipments, and from 24 cents per pound to 20 cents per pound for U.S. domestic shipments, effective Oct. 16.
   British Airways World Cargo’s surcharge will drop to 55 cents per kilogram, effective Oct. 12.
   “High fuel prices remain a very real challenge for the industry. However, recent weeks have seen some relief with prices falling, triggering a decrease in our fuel surcharge. This brings a welcome respite to the industry, even though costs remain close to an all time high,” said Chris Bosworth, BA World Cargo’s general manager commercial development.
