Midwest-based global forwarder using CargoSphere for automated quoting

M.E. Dey will use CargoSphere’s Rate Mesh network to better access contract, non-vessel operator and partner ocean rates, and increase the speed of its quoting process to customers.    The global freight forwarder and customs broker M.E. Dey & Co. has implemented the rate platform from cloud-based global freight rate management software provider CargoSphere, the companies said Thursday.
   M.E. Dey will use CargoSphere for a single database of freight rates which to provide quicker access to their direct carrier contract rates, as well as rates from three non-vessel operating common carriers, the National Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association of America Shippers Association, and partners in Asia to create branded quotes for customers.
   The NVO and partner rates are published in CargoSphere’s cloud-based Rate Mesh, a connected network of industry parties that receive and distribute real-time, online, and confidential freight rates.
   “The CargoSphere Rate Mesh allows us to access up-to-date rates online, which is fast and timely,” said Sarah Azar, project manager and certified customs specialist at M.E. Dey. “Before CargoSphere we often would wait 24 hours to receive rates from our partner in China. Our quote turn-time is now timelier for customers.”
   Prior to the CargoSphere deployment, M.E. Dey was paying a third party to publish their FMC tariffs.
