French commandos recapture seized vessel

French commandos recapture seized vessel    French special forces this morning recaptured the cargo and passenger vessel “Pascal Paoli” from striking union workers protesting the privatization of state-owned ferry company SNCM, the BBC reported.
   The vessel was hijacked late Tuesday by 30 masked, unarmed members of the Union of Corsican Workers at the port of Marseilles. According to the BBC about 50 commandos swooped down from five helicopters to the deck of the ship at 06:35 GMT, gaining control in about 10 minutes.
   Unrest broke out at the Marseilles port Monday following reports that SNCM was likely be sold to private investment firm Butler Capital Partners.
   Last week, debt-ridden SNCM sold its 50 percent share in specialist Mediterranean/North Africa shipping company Sudcargos to CMA CGM for an undisclosed amount.
