Federal supply chain advisory committee seeks new members

The Commerce Department is looking for individuals to sit on a panel that makes recommendations on supply chain competitiveness.    There is still time for people who want to serve on the Department of Commerce’s Advisory Committee on Supply Chain Competitiveness to send in their applications.
   The department is looking for up to 10 individuals from industry and academia with experience in logistics and freight transportation to provide advice on government-wide policies aimed at making goods movement more efficient to support exports and overall economic growth.
   The ACSCC, which has just begun its next two-year term, meets quarterly.
   Recent issues it has studied include port congestion, bureaucratic drag on federal permitting for infrastructure products, labor shortages in the logistics sectors, and national freight policy.
   The federal advisory committee has room for up to 45 members. 
   The deadline for immediate consideration of appointments is Dec. 18, although Commerce officials will accept applications on a rolling basis to fill any vacancies that may remain.
