Menlo Worldwide receives European logistics award

Menlo Worldwide receives European logistics award Con-way Inc. subsidiary Menlo Worldwide's European operations has been awarded the Global Institute of Logistics’ Award of Excellence for its contributions to the development of Logistics Service Provision (LSP).
   According to the institute, Menlo was selected because of its success in applying the principles of 'lean' manufacturing to the LSP sector. The lean concept uses a company’s employees to discover ways to remove waste from processes by drawing on the expertise and knowledge of people who perform the work.
   The process applies lean manufacturing methodologies used in the supply chain to allow for the continuous removal of cost from warehousing and logistics operations.
   San Mateo-based logistics solution provider Menlo Worldwide maintains operations in North America and 20 countries. Con-way is a $4.2 billion freight transportation and logistics company.
