Kalmar gets crane maintenance contract at Nhava Sheva    Kalmar Industries said Tuesday it has been awarded a service contract by Gateway Terminals India for maintenance and operations of 29 rubber tire gantry cranes at the Nhava Sheva container terminal.
   The five-year deal requires Kalmar to supply GTI, a joint venture between APM Terminals and Container Corp. of India (CONCOR), with preventative and breakdown maintenance, engineering support, daily inspections, equipment operators and spare parts supply. Kalmar said it plans to provide more than 100 maintenance specialists and operators trained to meet international standards to work three shifts per day.
   Increasing business volumes and demand from local customers drove Kalmar to set up a sales company in India at the end of 2005, when the company acquired 51 percent of Indlift, which had been the agent for Kalmar products in India since 2000. Since the acquisition, Kalmar has addressed expansion in India by increasing its sales and service network to include port cities such as Chennai, Cochin and Kolkata and by employing additional technicians.
