Con-way orders 525 tractors

   Con-way Truckload has purchased 525 tractors for an undisclosed amount, allowing the company to retire tractors approaching 500,000 service miles. The units will be delivered throughout the year, with the last tractor scheduled to hit the road in December.
   The order consists of 325 Kenworth T680 tractors and 200 2014 Navistar ProStar models. The rest of the carrier’s 2,700-tractor fleet is dominated by Kenworth T660s and earlier Navistar ProStar units.
   More than 200 drivers participated in product reviews and surveys before Con-way made its decision for the new purchase. 
   “Drivers are going to choose a carrier that respects them. One of the many ways Con-way Truckload shows that is to actively seek our drivers’ opinions on a variety of issues and then act upon their feedback,” Con-way’s Randy Cornell said in  a statement. “Further, we want to ensure our professional drivers are behind the wheel of the best equipment available.” – Jon Ross
