MAG Property and Stoford submit plans for logistics unit at Manchester airport

Airport operator MAG Property and logistics property specialist Stoford submit joint plans for logistics unit at Airport City Manchester.    Manchester Airports Group — owner-operators of the airports of London Stansted, Manchester, East Midlands and Bournemouth — and Stoford, a leading logistics property specialist, have jointly submitted a planning application for the development and construction of a 260,000-square-foot logistics unit as part of their 800 million pound ($1.25 billion) Airport City Manchester development.
   Working on behalf of an international investor, Stoford is currently developing an 11-acre plot at Airport City South, creating a new logistics hub adjacent to Manchester Airport’s existing cargo center.
   This announcement comes after the companies were granted planning permission for the development of 1.4 million square feet of logistics space and 36.6 acres of new landscaping for the UK government-designated Enterprise Zone for Greater Manchester. The new 100-million-pound logistics hub will create an estimated 1,800 jobs by expanding Manchester Airport’s freight terminal, as well as improve international trade, cut transit times and drive more efficient, sustainable supply chains, according to a joint press release.
   Lynda Shillaw, MAG’s divisional property head, said the partners submitted the plans for approval at the Airport City South. The document cites “growing market demand for logistics and industrial property,” adding that the companies “will provide specific details about the development in due course.”
