Agility wins contract for Qatar gas-to-liquids project Agility Project Logistics and U.K.-based project freight forwarder Transcar Projects Ltd. said they have won a global shipping contract for two phases of the “Pearl” gas-to-liquid project in Ras Laffan, Qatar.
   Agility Project Logistics, formerly known as Transoceanic Shipping Co., is a unit of Kuwait-based firm Agility.
   The Pearl project, the world’s largest gas-to-liquid project, has been developed by Qatar Petroleum and Shell and will involve more than 1 million freight tons of cargo lined up for its construction. Gas-to-liquid refineries convert natural gas to longer chain liquid hydrocarbons. The Pearl project will produce 140,000 barrels per day of liquefied products and about 120,000 barrels per day of condensate, liquefied petroleum gas and ethane.
   The two companies, which are competitors, said in a joint statement that the deal was “a historic win for both companies and an excellent opportunity to bring two outstanding track records together to operate this exciting and prestigious contract.”
