MSC raising Black Sea/East Med export rates

   The liner carrier Mediterranean Shipping Co. said it plans to raise rates on a number of trades out of the east Mediterranean and Black Sea from March 1.
   The increases are:

$50 per container from Egypt, Lebanon, Cyprus, Syria, and Israel to South Africa, Mozambique and West Africa.

$100 per container from Egypt, Lebanon, Cyprus, Syria, and Israel to east Africa and Red Sea ports.

$100 per container from Port Said and Alexandria to northern Africa ports.

$50 per 20-foot container and $75 per 40-foot container from Lebanon to the United States and Canada.

$50 per 20-foot container and $100 per 40-foot container from Syria to the United States and Canada.

$250 per 20-foot container and $500 per 40-foot container from Israel to Central America. 

$500 per 20-foot container and $1,000 per 40-foot container from Israel to the east and west coasts of South America.

$50 per container from the Black Sea and Greece to West Africa.

$100 per container from the Black Sea and Greece to Red Sea and Africa destinations.
