CBP makes series of drug stops U.S. Customs officers seized large quantities of marijuana in three separate commercial shipments at land and sea ports during the past week.
   Inspectors at the Sumas, Wash., port of entry discovered 1,746 pounds of the illegal drug in a trailer carrying imported beef cattle from Canada. A gamma X-ray exam was conducted after the cattle were removed from the trailer and led officers to a compartment in the floor decking where hundreds of bags containing the powerful 'BC Bud' variety were hidden. The truck driver was arrested.
   Customs officers in El Paso, Texas, also confiscated more than 4,800 pounds of marijuana, worth about $3.8 million, carved out in a shipment of cardboard.
   Also, inspectors in Miami confiscated 3,428 pounds of marijuana concealed in a container that arrived from Kingston, Jamaica. The agency said it believed the drugs were placed on the Australian vessel during a stop in the island nation.
