BA World Cargo to expand European short-haul freighter network

BA World Cargo to expand European short-haul freighter network    British Airways World Cargo will expand its European short-haul freighter network from the start of next month.
   From Nov. 1, BA World Cargo’s schedule of 10 weekly widebody services to seven European destinations will be increased to include 20 weekly services to 11 destinations, including four new stops at Oporto, and one new stop each at Stockholm and Amsterdam.
   At the same time, BA World Cargo will replace the Boeing 757 freighters with A300 aircraft on the European routes to increase capacity and eliminate the need for contour pallets.
   BA World Cargo said the new schedule will offer customers faster transit via London and next-day connections to the United States, Asia Pacific and the Middle East.
   “The European market is posing a real challenge for all carriers at the moment. However, we are maintaining our market share and outperforming market yield declines of 5 percent,” said Tony Nothman, regional vice president United Kingdom and Ireland, Europe and Africa.
