Other commission officers for 2004 are: Bob Edwards, vice president; Lawrence Molloy, secretary; Alec Fisken, assistant secretary; and Patricia Davis, commissioner.
Miller succeeds Davis, who served as chairman of the Commission in 2003.
An attorney, Miller first became involved with the port of Seattle while serving as president of the Queen Anne community council, where she negotiated an agreement that allowed for the expansion of the port’s Terminal 91 facility. She was elected to the commission in 1987.
“Seaport business is growing,” Miller said. “Like every other major port, we will consider redevelopment opportunities on vacant and underused properties.”
Miller also said the port needs to do a better job of engaging with the public and informing communities about the port’s policies and activities.
Miller is a trustee of the Washington public ports association and sits on the board of several civic organizations.
Edwards, now vice president of the port of Seattle commission, was elected to the commission in 1999. He is an investment analyst and is serving as president of the Washington public ports association in 2004.
