Wärtsilä wins three re-liquefaction contracts

The re-liquefaction plants were ordered for three LNG carrier vessels that are currently under construction.    Helsinki-based technology company Wärtsilä has been awarded the contracts to supply its re-liquefaction plants to three under construction LNG carriers, the company confirmed Aug. 31.
   Two of the vessels are being built at the Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) yard in South Korea for Norway-based shipping company Knutsen OAS.
   The third vessel is being built at the Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) yard in South Korea for the international LNG carrier owner and operator GasLog Ltd. The GasLog ship order was booked in April 2017 and the one for the Knutsen ships was in May/June 2017, according to Wärtsilä.
   GasLog, a longtime Wärtsilä customer, has several ships in its fleet that are fitted with Wärtsilä solutions, while Knutsen’s two latest vessels, both delivered in 2016, are fitted with Wärtsilä’s nitrogen based re-liquefaction plants.
   The re-liquefaction plant ordered for the vessels includes Wärtsilä’s mixed refrigerant technology, which is an energy efficient solution for smaller liquefaction applications, the company has said. The new installation is expected to have a capacity of 1.5 – 2.5 tons/hour (t/h).
   “We are proud of the success of Wärtsilä’s advanced re-liquefaction plants based on MR technology, and this success is reflected in these latest orders,” Wärtsilä Marine Solutions Vice President of Flow & Gas Solutions Timo Koponen said.
   The Wärtsilä equipment is scheduled for delivery beginning in February 2018.
